Today it has been officially six months since my first kiss. Say whaaat? Time has been flying like a fighter jet! *pew pew*
Because of this wonderful milestone I've reached, I will TELL YOU A DETAILED STORY OF MY FIRST KISS! Ahhh!
For those of you who just want the gist, scroll to the bottom and read the section after the last gif :)
I'm honestly REALLY embarrassed to tell this. I don't even know why I'm doing this in the first place! It's like whenever I make a post on this blog, I just get this huge surge of bravery and share everything, which is really out of character for me!
Well, I hope you all can handle all my sharey-ness! I feel like this blog is more of a diary for me... I'm really writing all of this so I don't forget, because I'm one of the most forgetful people I know!
ANYWAY, the story!
Now, our Feature Presentation: Chanel's First Kiss! (Chanel's side of the story)
So I mentioned before in my first post that my first kiss happened on Adam's and my hike to the Y late on the night of December 13th, 2012.
Let me tell you how we ended up there...
We were out on our second date. While we were eating dinner, Adam mentioned something about hiking, and enthused about how much he loved it. He said that he'd hiked Mount Timpanogos once and had hiked the Y three times that semester. I was amazed! I told him that I'd never even hiked the Y once! He then suggested that we should go hike it since I never had.
I wasn't too sure, though. I'm one of those people who have a hard time saying yes when I'm asked to do something unplanned and unexpected. It catches me off guard, so my immediate answer is usually no. Horrible, I know! But it wasn't just that. I mean, it seemed like a bad idea in general. Oddly enough, I trusted him, but going hiking in mid-December in the freezing cold when it's really dark outside? Not the brightest of ideas.
After a few minutes of contemplation, though, I thought, Oh, why the heck not?
And that's how we decided we would hike the Y that night.
Once we got up to the Y (after slipping on the ice a lot! haha), we sat down and looked at the view. All the lights of the city were beneath us. Everyone had their Christmas lights up, so it was really pretty!
X marks the spot! Yup, we sat riiiiight there!
It was super duper cold up there. Remember, we were in Utah, in the middle of December, and it was now 11 o'clock at night!
We had been asking questions and talking for a while when he mentioned that his hands were cold (He totally had gloves in his coat. Just sayin'!), so I offered to warm them up by rubbing them between mine.
You have no idea how absolutely paranoid I was that he was going to hold my hand. Just the night before he asked me what I would've done if he'd held my hand on our first date, so I knew he'd thought about it. I had only held hands with two guys before, so holding hands is a big step for me, and I had only met this guy a week ago!
... But let's be honest, I was totally asking for it by offering to warm up his hands.
After a while he said, “Now your hands are cold! ... You know a way we could keep both of our hands warm…”
Aaand our fingers twined into each other's. Wasn't I just paranoid this would happen?! Oh boy. Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Where was this going to end up...?

He asked me a few potentially semi-awkward questions (Adam is a HUGE fan of awkward questions), including who I liked. I didn't really like anyone at the time, but I thought Adam was a good potential, so I said, "I guess I could say you, but I haven't really known you long enough to tell."
Later on, he asked me how many guys I had kissed. I told him I'd only kissed a boy in Kindergarten, but most people say that doesn't count. Hahaha :)

Just a bit after, he told me he had saved up the most
awkward question of all for last. It was just about midnight and we were about to leave (We were freezing!!). He spent about a minute just
saying to himself, “Alright… Alright… If this doesn’t work out the rest of
tonight will be super awkward… Okay…”
I told him, "Just say it!"
He asked, “Have you ever wanted to kiss a guy on top of a mountain?”

The reaction going on in my head:
He put me on the spot!! It was unexpected and it caught me off guard!
DON'T DO THAT TO MEEEEE. :'(
I composed myself outwardly. “Not particularly... I guess it’s a cute idea though,” I responded. He mentioned that it was something he had always wanted to do. Awkwardness ensued, and it was quiet for a couple moments.
I smiled and cheerfully piped up, pointing to my cheek, “You can kiss me on my cheek!”
He looked slightly disappointed.
Wow, bad reply, Chanel! Scrambling to come up with something to say, I blurted, “If you want to.”
He ended up kissing my cheek, and I figured that was that, end of story.

I can't remember exactly how it happened (it's amazing that I've actually remembered this much!), but I think he mentioned something about a real kiss.
I sat there. And sat... Aaaand sat some more.
How could I be diplomatic? It's not that he wasn't cute or anything. Goodness, he was really, REALLY cute... And he had a fantastic personality to boot! But I just hadn't known him for all that long...
So I put on my brave pants and ended up telling him, "...I’m just not ready.”
He said okay, and that he didn’t want to force me into anything.
He started to get up, and I stopped him.
WHY IN THE HECK WAS I STOPPING HIM?! I just told him no, didn't I?!
“Well… wait. This would make a really cute first kiss story, huh?” I mused. Kissing a boy on top of a mountain. You can't get much better than that!
He answered, “Well, I think so!”
I mumbled about how my lips were really dry and that I had no idea what I was doing, cuz the last time I kissed a guy was in Kindergarten. He told me he wouldn’t know the difference.
After a minute or two, I took a deep breath and said, “Okay.”
He asked, “Are you sure?”
I nodded. "Yeah."
And what went on in my head once I realized what I just did:

Why, Chanel, WHY?! What are you doing?!??

Stupid Chanel! STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!
I thought, Good grief, my heart's racing like an Olympic track star.
We turned toward each other.
Okay, there's no going back now.
Our heads leaned in.
Just stay calm. Stop shaking!
I closed my eyes.
Wow, I really do like this guy... (Strike of realization!)
Aaaaand we kissed.

So that's my (very long) first kiss story! :)
Yes, my first kiss was on top of a mountain with a boy I hardly knew. But look how things turned out! I really wouldn't have it any other way :)
Every girl should take a lesson from this though!
Freezing cold temperatures make hands cold, which leads to hand-holding, which leads to a kiss on the cheek, which leads to a kiss on the lips!
So moral of the story: If you don't want to kiss a boy on the second date, don't go on a hike with him in the dark when it's below freezing! Or if you do, bring gloves and WEAR THEM! No leaving them in your coat pocket! Boys are very, very sneaky, and those gloves will be your only defense! Hahaha :)
But if you do want to kiss him... Well by all means, leave those gloves at home and go for it! ;)
794 Days Left! :)

This was so cute! Yay, another gif blogger:) Oh, and...are you an Air Force brat? The fighter reference was adorbs.
