My First E-mail!

OHMYJIGGLYJELLO GUESS WHAAAAT?!?!?!

No, I didn't get a puppy, but I'm sure happy enough to feel like it!!! :D
(That's a big deal because I really love puppies! And I want one SO BAD.)

Now I really want a puppy...
Well, to make up for both of our disappointment, here's a picture of an adorable puppy!:

Awww so precious! If you get this puppy for me, I'd love your for life!

Well ANYWAY, I got my first e-mail from Elder Gibby!! YAYAYAYAY!

All day I've been checking my e-mail, mainly because I've been e-mailing a friend who's serving his mission in Oklahoma. I was waiting for his reply since today is his Preparation Day (P Day), one day each week that missionaries can send e-mails/run errands/relax.
There was a part of me that was crossing my fingers that I might hear from Adam today, but I wasn't going to let myself get my hopes up.

This afternoon after getting back from class, I checked my e-mail.
I swear I heard a booming voice from Heaven announce:
"BEHOLD, CHANEL, I PRESENT YOU WITH A LETTER FROM ELDER GIBBY!!"

HALLELUJAH! PRAISE THE LORD!

After quickly skimming through the e-mail, I debated on sending a reply back right away...
Hmm... Is it breaking some sort of rule...? Maybe I shouldn't... OH GOODNESS WHY NOT :)
He told me he doesn't have an address, so he'll only be able to e-mail me once a week, so I asked him real quick if he wanted me to send him letters to the mission home since I couldn't send any letters to him directly.

AND HE REPLIEEEEED!!! My day = made x2!

It's like we had a little conversation with each other! HE FELT SO CLOSE! GAH I COULD DIE I'M SO HAPPY :)

It turns out he's 6 hours from the mission home, so it'll be a while before he'd get any letters. Either way, I've decided I'll still send letters there, just because it's so fun to get hand-written letters. He'll probably feel a little like this when he gets showered with a bunch of letters at once!:

I WANT TO READ THEM ALLLLL!

Well anyway, on to some of the contents of the original e-mail!

Elder Gibby is apparently he's the first American missionary to start his mission outside of the city (Oaxaca), so look at this trend-setter! He's speaking a language called Zapotec. Unfortunately for him, "Gibby" in Zapotec directly translates to "slut".

Nooo, I didn't laugh when he told me that! Okay, I definitely did. But it was one of those moments where I know I shouldn't laugh, but I couldn't help it...

Poor guy! It really is awful! Still makes me giggle though... Hehehehe :) Nobody tell him that though!

His companion is the District Leader, so he's been pretty busy this first week traveling around. They have to walk everywhere, and he says they walk about 10 miles a day! Crazy!! He said his companion approves of me (which it's apparently really hard to get his approval) so hurrah for me! :D

I was talking to my parents last night and mentioned that Adam would probably read and reply to my dad's e-mail before mine since, y'know, he's gonna want to hear what my dad has to say!

Imagine how I felt when I saw this:
"So I haven't read your dad's e-mail yet but I'm sure it will be good :)"

So Adam had read AND replied my e-mail first! My competitive side got the best of me and I was like:

Yessssss.
He loves me more! I win, daddy! TAKE THAT.

Oh, and Elder Gibby sent me some pictures too! He sent me pictures of a boy and girl he's teaching (they are SO cute!!), a view of the city, and the best part...

This is his shower. A spigot and buckets! Yeaaaah!:
I think he's hoping for a little remodeling...

I was so glad to hear all is going well with Elder Gibby! Well, other than being known as Elder "Slut" and his shower. I'll think he'll be happy not to go to any Zapotec-speaking areas after this though! Hahaha :)

861 Days Left! :)
